Every behavior speaks to a need. Meet the need, and watch them bloom.

I help mental health providers, child welfare teams, and caregivers look beneath the surface of behavior to the needs underneath, so children and families get care that actually fits.

About

Nearly two decades alongside children, families, and the people who serve them.

Hi, I'm Rosy. I'm a Spanish-bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and I've spent most of my career in public child welfare. I started as a clinician working directly with children and families, and over time my work grew into training and coaching the mental health providers who support children in the child welfare system.

My work centers on people who have lived through traumatic events. I've worked with a wide range of individuals and families, and I'm just as comfortable in a one-on-one session as I am presenting to a room of community members or a full clinical team.

Across all of it, one idea has held steady: behavior is communication. When we understand the need driving a behavior, we stop chasing symptoms and start building safety, connection, and real change. That's the lens I bring to every training, coaching session, and case consultation.

I'm a graduate of the USC School of Social Work and California State University, Northridge.

Case consultation

When a child's behavior doesn't make sense yet

You've tried the interventions. The behavior keeps coming back, or gets worse. Case consultation gives you a structured space to step back, look at the whole picture, and find the root cause driving what you're seeing.

The behavior is the leaf. Together we find the root.

  1. Share the case

You walk me through the child or family, the history, and what's been tried. All identifying details stay out of it.

  2. Map the behavior

We look at when, where, and with whom the behavior shows up, and what happens right before and after.

  3. Name the underlying need

We connect the pattern to the need it may be trying to meet: safety, connection, control, predictability, or something else.

  4. Plan the next steps

You leave with concrete strategies that meet the need, plus ways to explain the plan to caregivers and your team.

Why it matters

When needs are met, children can play, connect, and grow

Play is how children practice safety and joy.
Connection is the foundation for every other need.
Growth happens in relationship, together.

FAQ

Common questions

Where do you offer services?

Anywhere in the United States. Trainings, coaching, and case consultations are available virtually nationwide, and I can travel to your agency or event for in-person trainings.

Do you offer services in Spanish?

Yes. I'm bilingual and can lead trainings, coaching, and consultations in English or Spanish, including parenting trainings for Spanish-speaking families and caregivers.

Who are your trainings for?

Mental health clinicians, child welfare agencies and caseworkers, clinical supervisors, foster, kinship and adoptive parents, residential programs, schools, and community groups. Each training is adjusted to fit the audience.

Can a training be customized for my agency?

Yes. We start with a short conversation about your team, the children and families you serve, and the challenges you're seeing. Then I shape the content, length, and format to fit.

What happens in a case consultation?

You bring a case where a child's behavior is hard to understand. Together we look at the patterns, identify the underlying needs, and leave with a concrete plan. Cases are discussed without names or identifying information.

What's the difference between consultation and coaching and case consultation?

Case consultation focuses on one specific case where a child's behavior is hard to understand. Consultation and coaching is broader, ongoing support for you or your team: bringing the underlying needs lens into your practice, building needs-based approaches across a program, and sustaining yourself in the work.

I'm a therapist. How can I use the underlying needs lens in my practice?

Consultation and coaching is built for that. We meet one-on-one or as a group to explore how to spot the needs behind behavior, explain them to clients and caregivers, and build them into your assessments and treatment plans. Sessions can be a few focused meetings or an ongoing series.

Is consultation the same as clinical supervision?

No. I don't provide clinical supervision or sign off on licensure hours. Consultation is collaborative and educational, and you keep full clinical responsibility for your clients and your decisions.

Is consultation the same as therapy?

No. Trainings, coaching, and consultations are professional and educational services. They aren't therapy or a substitute for mental health treatment.

How much do services cost?

Fees depend on the service, group size, length, and format. Send me a message with what you have in mind and I'll follow up with a quote.
